Byblos - Jbeil

An antique biblical town and among the oldest in the world, a Phoenician legend makes us believe that Byblos was founded by the god El.

The Greeks gave it its actual name and made it an Hellenic town The name Byblos which means "book" in Greek, takes its origin in the town's importance in the trade of papyrus.

The Phoenician walls, Roman theater, the Crusaders castle, the church of St. John the Baptist and the old harbour contribute in making of Byblos this charming city.
