The Shoof Area
In this wonderful and fertile mountain area one find Deir Al-Qamar, or " Convent of the moon", the
ancient residence of the governors of Lebanon in the XVIth and XVIIth centuries. Further on, half way on the road
to Beit Eddine, one should definitely bring a visit to the peculiar Castle of Moussa.
At Beit Eddine at last overlooking a deep gully, you find the Palace of Emir Bechir II who governed Mount Lebanon
for almost half a century. Turned into a museum, it is probably one of the most visited places in Lebanon !
