Aleppo and Damascus vie for the title of the "world's oldest inhabited city", but a definite answer
will probably never be found. Important is that this city has been inhabited since the earliest days of settled
urban development.
Mentioned in the archives of Mari and the Hittites, Amorite kingdom, home of Assyrians, Greek, Romans, Saladin,
Mongols, Ottomans and French, no summary could adequately evoke the complexity of its history. Let yourself be
taking back in time and enjoy this Arab bazaar city where traditions of the Middle Ages do not seem that remote
at all. The citadel, the great mosque, the museum, the souk, the old part of the city, the madrasa Halawlyeh, madrasa
Al-Firdoss and the Armenian quarter are only some of the highlights of Aleppo and all are worth a visit.
