El-Bara   Dead Cities St. Simeon El-Bara Qalb Loze Al-maara Ebla You will arrive at the site of this dead city via Qalaat Abou Sufian, a medieval castle built with stones taken from the ruins of the Byzantine city. You may visit it by calling the warder. From its wall strengthened with salient you will be able to watch the ruins of EI-Bara scattered in a number of group of buildings. With a guide you will see the remains of a church called EI-Hosn inside an enclosure wall, about 500 m. to the southeast of the Arab castle. Then you will join the group of «EI-Kefr EI-Bara" with its ruins of houses, agricultural buildings (oil presses) and five churches among orchards through which old paved roads run. There are also two pyramidal tombs and a third one from the same period but very dilapidated. There are five stone sarcophagi inside the sepulchral room of the first tomb and only two in the second. From EI-Bara driving in the direction of Ouroum EI-Doz, you will reach the Aleppo road to Latakia after 16 km. From there to Aleppo it is 67 km. of good road.   Previous
