An impressive screen of mountains conceals the little Christian village of Maaloula with houses painted in periwinkle
blue. Its inhabitants still speak the language of Christ, Aramaic One of the oldest churches in Syria overhangs
the village and it is in Mar Sarkis that one can admire icons dating back as far as the XIII century In Sednaya
one finds the
vines of the wine spoken of in the Bible but also a convent built in 547 housing one of the four icons reputedly
painted by the apostle Luke featuring the Virgin Mary.
