A little further, to the great colonnade, are the ruins
of a vast tribune, called edifice with Corinthian pre-style, and a
little further to the left a charming small theater built in the first
half of the 2nd century of our era. It is integrated very harmoniously
in the heart of the city near the Senate, the Agora and a hall where
banquets were held.
The building of the stage is fairly well preserved,
as well as the orchestra, a semi circular paved esplanade, separated
from the cavea (the steps) by the arena which was accessible through
three vaulted passages. While actors performed on the stage, the
orchestra was used for the chorus. Behind, a portico followed the round
shape of the steps. |
